Meet the presenters of our new webinar series: Navigate with Nautilus. Below you with find the bios of the previous speakers.

  • Bio: Chris Blake is a career intelligence professional with 20+ years supporting military and Intelligence Community operations around the globe. Prior to co-founding Octaris, Chris served as Chief Revenue Officer of IdenX and on Dataminr's public sector team. In uniform, Chris served as ISR Director for SOTF-Iraq at the outset of the counter-ISIS fight and as a counter-terrorism targeter and Information Warfare Director at NSWDG. Chris deployed 10 times throughout his career supporting SOF, IC, and Navy operations in the Middle East. He and the other founders at Octaris built the company in order to deliver the capabilities and services he wished he had in uniform.

  • Bio: Dan Cohen is a senior executive and entrepreneur with experience in both early stage ventures and large enterprises. He has established the vision and strategic direction for emerging technology companies, as advisor, senior executive or founder.
    In health care, Dan has led companies and projects in diagnostics, medical devices, medical education content, electronic medical records, clinic management systems, small molecule therapies and biologic agents.
    In information technology, he was responsible for teams in software development, e-learning, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture.
    Working as a consultant, and later in venture capital, Dan led projects and teams for innovative products for many sectors in clean technology, including material sciences, clean energy, and bioremediation.  
    He is a frequent mentor and judge for business and technology projects, both in the startup ecosystem and for University faculties. Dan's current projects include cleantech startups in surface engineering, novel alloy materials, and venture capital for technology transfer initiatives.

  • Bio: Graham Plaster is the Director of Nautilus, a public-private partnership between NSWCDD and DEFENSEWERX, accelerating innovation in the Navy.   Graham’s last active duty assignments included Foreign Area Officer working in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq; and serving as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard the USS Reuben James (FFG 57), deploying in support of OIF and OEF. He also served as Assistant Dean of Students at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.   He is co-author and editor of the book, "In the Shadow of Greatness" which was on the Navy's official reading list and praised by Tom Brokaw as a "must read for all Americans".

  • Bio:  Mr. Jacob McElhaney is the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Deputy Program Manager. He is responsible for ensuring smooth day to day operations and in increasing program effectiveness and reach. Mr. McElhaney has been a part of the NAVSEA SBIR/STTR program for 6 years. Prior to assuming the Deputy Program Manager position he served as Chief of Staff and Senior Financial Lead where he oversaw the management/ financial execution of all NAVSEA SBIR/ STTR contracts. Mr. McElhaney holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
